After years of paying over the odds for tyres and for tracking problems with the big name national companies, I finally have found a trustworthy local team that dealt with the issue at hand without trying to sell me extra tyres or add ons. I initially booked my car in to have the handbrake repaired (quote Â£40) and for an MOT. By the end of the day the MOT had not been finished and the hand brake not fixed because they forgot. I dropped the car back a few days later only to be told that "the brake drums were severely worn, the shoes worn, and the brake cylinders leaking fluid" and HAD TO BE CHANGED. I wanted to see this for myself so turned up unexpectantly with my boyfriend (who knows a bit about cars). One drum had not even been taken off and hence the wear on this or the other parts was impossible to see. The other drum only had 0.5mm of wear, the shoe was worn, and the cylinder moderately corroded. It was then agreed they would replace the old drums (saving of about 100 pounds). On both occassions I went to pick up my car (based on an agreed time) it was not done and I was left waiting for 10-20 mins.
